I’ve always been fascinated by entrepreneurs and the businesses they build. Whether I’m helping a client acquire a company, negotiate a commercial agreement, or plan for future growth, I enjoy finding practical solutions that help businesses move forward with confidence.

I’ve always believed there is a story behind every business.

Every entrepreneur starts with an idea, takes a risk, overcomes challenges, and builds something they care deeply about. That’s one of the reasons I enjoy practising business law. I don’t just see contracts or transactions. I see people investing their time, energy, and ambition into building something meaningful.

Before joining Brooks Business Law, I had the opportunity to work in private practice, government, in-house legal departments, and the startup community across multiple jurisdictions. Along the way, I also worked as a startup founder and fundraising consultant, experiences that allowed me to experience many of the same opportunities and challenges my clients face every day.

Those experiences taught me that the best legal advice isn’t simply legally correct. It also needs to be commercially practical, ethically sound, and tailored to the client’s long-term objectives.

That philosophy continues to guide every matter I work on.

• Advising franchise purchasers through negotiations involving financing, commercial leases, CRA issues, and franchisor requirements.
• Developing Software as a Service (SaaS) agreements and scalable legal documentation for growing technology companies.
• Structuring sophisticated corporate reorganizations designed to support future growth and succession planning.
• Negotiating commercial agreements that protected clients’ legal interests while preserving valuable business relationships.
• Preparing estate plans that reflected each family’s unique circumstances and long-term objectives.

My Approach

The first question I ask myself isn’t, “What does the law say?”

It’s, “What is this client trying to accomplish?”

Understanding a client’s business, goals, and priorities always comes before discussing legal solutions. Once I understand where they’re trying to go, I can help them get there with advice that is practical, understandable, and tailored to their specific circumstances.

I believe clients deserve lawyers who listen carefully, communicate clearly, and explain complex issues without unnecessary legal jargon. My goal is for every client to leave a meeting feeling informed, confident, and supported.

Beyond the Office

Outside the office, I’m first and foremost a husband and father. Family keeps me grounded and reminds me why the work we do matters.

I also enjoy travelling and have been fortunate to visit more than fifteen countries. Experiencing different cultures has broadened my perspective and reinforced that successful businesses, no matter where they operate, are ultimately built on trust and relationships.

When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me at the gym, watching Formula One or cricket, learning a new practical skill, or planning our family’s next adventure. I also volunteer as a startup mentor with Futurpreneur Canada, where I enjoy helping entrepreneurs turn promising ideas into sustainable businesses.

Why I Love What I Do

One of the greatest privileges of being a business lawyer is earning a client’s trust.

Whether someone is buying their first business, expanding into new markets, or planning for the next generation, I never forget that there is a person, a family, and years of hard work behind every file.

My hope is that clients remember more than the transaction itself. I want them to remember that they had someone in their corner who listened, cared about their success, and helped them make confident decisions during some of the most important moments in their business journey.
