About Jason

I enjoy helping people move forward. Whether that means buying a home, starting a new life in Canada, or navigating an important legal decision, my goal is to make the process as straightforward, informed, and stress free as possible.

I’ve always believed that good legal advice is about more than completing documents or checking boxes. It’s about listening, understanding what’s important to each client, and helping them move forward with confidence.

A large part of my practice focuses on residential real estate and immigration law, two areas where clients are often making some of the biggest decisions of their lives. Whether I’m helping a family purchase their first home or assisting someone through the immigration process, I appreciate the trust clients place in me during these important milestones.

One of the most rewarding parts of my practice is helping newcomers begin their lives in Canada. Every client has a unique story, and I’m continually inspired by the courage, determination, and resilience they demonstrate in pursuing new opportunities. I enjoy helping make that journey a little easier by providing practical advice, clear communication, and steady guidance throughout the process.

How I Help Clients

I regularly assist clients with:

  • Residential real estate purchases and sales
  • Mortgage financing and refinancing
  • Work permits
  • Study permits
  • Visitor visas
  • Status renewals and restorations
  • Permanent residence applications
  • Humanitarian and compassionate applications
  • Immigration advice for individuals, families, and employers

Over the past fifteen years, I’ve helped individuals and businesses across a wide range of industries navigate Canada’s immigration system, including clients in professional sports, music and entertainment, construction, health care, hospitality, manufacturing, retail, and many other sectors.

My Experience

Before joining Brooks Business Law, I spent more than fifteen years practising immigration law and providing advice to both individual and corporate clients on a full range of Canadian immigration matters.

Earlier in my career, I worked as an Emergency Medical Technician, providing emergency medical and trauma care. That experience taught me the importance of staying calm under pressure, communicating clearly, and helping people through stressful situations, qualities that continue to shape how I practise law today.

My Approach

I understand that many clients come to a lawyer because they’re facing an unfamiliar or important life event. My role is to make that experience less overwhelming.

I believe in consistent communication, honest advice, and taking the time to explain every step of the process. Clients deserve to know where things stand, what their options are, and what to expect moving forward.

The greatest satisfaction in my work comes from helping clients achieve goals they once believed were out of reach, whether that’s becoming a permanent resident, securing a work permit, or receiving the keys to their new home.

For me, success is measured by the smile on a client’s face when we reach that milestone together.

Beyond the Office

Outside of work, I’m a proud husband and father to two energetic boys who keep life busy and rewarding. Much of my free time is spent cheering them on from the sidelines at the hockey rink, soccer field, or baseball diamond, depending on the season.

When I find a little time for myself, I enjoy backcountry camping, canoeing, hiking, gardening, woodworking, and reading. I’m also a loyal Toronto Blue Jays fan and never miss the chance to spend time outdoors with my family.
